THE PACKAGING:
First off, the packaging was beautiful. The Box they came in was so gorgeous I actually have it on display for my backround of my youtube videos. It was a long black box with gold interior and just oozed luxury to look at. When I Opened the box there was a lovely hand written note, which I thought was a gorgeous personal touch to the gift. Thumbs up from me already. The brushes themselves came in a round double sided leather cup holder in a lovely shade of baby pink with the monogram engraved on one side, this presentation was outstanding. All of the brushes were packed neatly into a plastic bag and then idividually wrapped in plastic inside of said bag. Very Impressed.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
My first impression of these brushes when I took them out of the wrapping was that they were absolutely beautiful. On top of this, they all felt incredibly soft to the touch, which I really liked. Although it is only a 12 piece set, I found that you had everything in this that you would need to do a full face of makeup. The rose gold touch was simply stunning also, they just oozed elegance and I could see why they are so expensive. You definitely get excellent quality for what you pay for with this brand, as although they are a bit on the pricey side, they were very good and I would happily pay the money for them myself. Every brush has a baby pink handle, hallow but not heavy; that then meets a rose gold metal band (so beautiful) and then light brown bristles which gradually turn white closer to the tip of each hair. Each brush is synthetic, but the hairs are tapered to mimic the effect of real human hair - and it works!
USAGE:
I used these brushes a good few times before I decided to form an opinion, even though I loved them from the get go. They were all extremely soft to use and were very good to apply makeup with.
I used the flat foundation brush to apply my foundation all over my face and then blended it in with either my beauty Blender or the Stippling Brush which comes in the set. This gave my face a really flawless even finish which I really liked.
I used the Large Powder brush to set my foundation in place as it was big and fluffy and perfect for this, I also used it to apply my Mac Bronzer just for a really bronzed and sunkissed glow as opposed to contouring.
I used the Large Angled to apply my blush to the apples of my cheeks and blend backwards, and to apply my highlighter to the tops of my cheekbones, tip of my nose and under the brow bone.
I used the Flat Concealer brush to apply my Mac Pro Long Wear concealer under my eyes and in the other areas I wished to highlight, and it worked extremely well to do so, I then blended that out with my Beauty Blender.
I used the Tapered Blending and the Medium Angled Shading Brush to blend all my shadows together on my eyes & to lay down my transition shade to begin with and I loved them so much. The tapered blending blush is comparable to the Sigma E40 but it isn't as fluffy and big but it does a good job of blending away any harsh lines and bringing everything together at the end.
I used the Flat Shader Brush to lay down any eyeshadow I wanted all across the lid before blending and it really packs the product on well without being too dense. It works really well with the likes of Urban Decays Smog, Half Baked etc. with minimal fall out.
I used the Pencil Brush to just as a touch of a darker colour to my crease to give my eye depth and on the outter part of my lower lash line aswel just to add some depth and it is very precise for this sort of application.
I used the Small Angle Eye Brush to apply my Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade and it worked like a dream. It is the perfect size & density for the application on this kind of product and for such precise application on the eyebrow!
I don't tend to wear gel liner often, but when I do I will be using the Eye Liner Brush from this set! It is so tiny yet so perfect for eyeliner application. It's dense but not to the point that you cant really work with it to give you a nice wing, or just a standard band of eyeliner. It's a great eyeliner brush and I prefer this one over my Sigma Eye Liner Brush!!
Lastly, I used the Small Shader Brush to apply shadow to my lower lash line. This works really well because it is small enough to have specific placement, yet it's fluffy enough to blend out as you go. Dense but not stiff, very impressed!
BEING WASHED & DRIED:
I was genuinely excited to wash these brushes to see how they would handle it. I wear quite a dark shade of foundation and I used the eye brushes for a really smokey eye so they were quite dirty after one use so I decided to see how they were when I washed them. I just used my Beauty Blender Cleanser to wash them with cold water & this worked a treat. I had to give them a good scrub but eventually every trace of makeup was washed off of them. I left them wrapped in a towel upside down in my room over night to dry and the next morning they were good as new. They literally looked like I had never used them before. I was very impressed with this. They had dried into the shape that they always were, there was no shedding and not a screed of makeup left on them (sometimes I've to wash my brushes twice to get all the makeup off them!) I was really happy with the outcome of these brushes after usage and a wash.
CONCLUSION:
Over all, I was really impressed with these brushes. They are excellent quality, look beautiful and do what they are meant to do very well. Although it is only a 12 piece set, it is definitely value for money as I found that a few of these brushes double up and have more than one purpose. I liked that a lot. They washed very well and dried pretty much 99.99% perfect! I am over all delighted with this brush set and it is a valued part of my kit. I am so grateful to Luxie Beauty for sending me this set as it really shows that they support bloggers and Youtubers out there, which is what we need to do what we do. They were so generous to send these to me and I am over the moon that they did! Not only are they very kind, but they produce very high quality products also.
