Okay Ladies, that time of the week again, yep it's review time!! This week I am reviewing the Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation & Concealer which I decided to purchase in order to see what all the hype was about.
First off I think the packaging is quite slick, the Foundation comes in a transparent bottle so you can see exactly what colour the actual liquid is itself which I liked, and it comes with a pump! I was delighted that it comes with a pump attatched as I think all foundations should just for ease of use first and foremost. I had done extensive research on this foundation before deciding to purchase as it is quite expensive at 34 Euros a pop. I had watched videos from Kathleen Lights, CoffeeBreakWithDani and some other famous youtubers whose opinions I would trust. I had heard that it was light-medium coverage which is what took me so long to actually be convinced to give it a go; I'm a full coverage kinda girl and after the sheer disappointment that the almighty Mac Face + Body was for me I wasn't sure about splurging on it. However I was still very intrigued so I decided to bite the bullet and try it for myself as I have wanted the concealer ever since Jaclyn Hill had been raving about it in her videos.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
When I decided to buy it, I was so excited to try this product but I waited until I had a day off to try it just incase it wasn't everything I had dreamed of. I'm in the shade 6.0 which is a perfect match to my Sally Hansen Medium Tan, or the equivilant of an NC30/32 in Mac foundations. With the foundation there is quite a good spectrum of colours starting at 1.0 and ending at 12.0 and as far as I know any shade ending in .0 is has a warm yellow undertone and every shade ending in .5 has a cool pinky undertone which I really liked that there was a good selection as sometimes it is hard to tell from looking at a bottle.
I was really pleasantly surprised with this foundation. Not gonna lie I was expecting it to be like the Mac Face + Body but it couldn't be any more different. The colour match was perfect for me and the coverage was more medium-full and buildable. I was so shocked with the amount of coverage it gave, I was over the moon! It also felt extremely lightweight on my skin, like my bareMinerals Original Foundation it felth like I had just a bit of moisturiser on my skin and nothing more yet it gave me the full coverage that almost compares to my beloved VICHY Dermablend. It's excellent coverage, yet not cakey on my skin and didn't seperate on my oilier areas like most foundations do. Three pumps covered my whole face and then I added an extra pump just for along my jawline where I have scarring from previous blemishes. I was utterly blown away by this foundation.
Usually I would have to powder my T-Zone after about 4 hours of wearing makeup as this area is like an oil slick on my face but with this foundation I got about 6 hours before having to do anything. It is a semi-matte finish anyway but I was very impressed with how well this foundation lasted throughout the day ( I work in an extremely busy shop where we have no air conditioning so it is very hot all the time) it was sweat proof, smudge proof and flawless all day. Very impressed!
I got the concealer in the shade light/Neutral which is a light shade with a neutral undertone as opposed to warm or cool, it's perfectly in between. First of all the applicator was just so easy to use compared to the pro longwear concealer by Mac which I have to use two different brushes to apply and then buff in; with this you just open it up slap it on and use your foundation brush/beauty blender to blend it in. I love this concealer. It is so good. The formula it super lightweight yet it is super full coverage which I like, so the two of these combined you're getting super full coverage yet an ultimately weightless feel on the skin which I absolutely love.
ON LASTING POWER:
In terms of lasting power, this dynamic duo really did very well in my opinion. My makeup was still as perfect as if I had just applied it, all day. I was delighted with the matte finish it has and how it stayed relatively mattified along my T-Zone during the day, yet I had some natural Dewy-ness where I wanted it. This foundation and concealer, once set with a powder, stayed put all day and all evening I was very impressed. I mess with the front of my hair a lot so sometimes my makeup rubs off there or at my chin but this stayed put no bother throughout the day. It didn't oxidize, or seperate and get cakey at all on my skin which I was delighted with.
OVERALL CONCLUSION:
Overall, I really like this foundation & concealer. Together or seperate I think they are both great products and is definitely value for money. I imagine the texture of this foundation to be similar to the Nars All Day Luminous & Weightless Foundation so if you have tried them both let me know what you think down below!?
I honestly was really surprised with this foundtion, I really didn't expect it to be as good as it is and to have the coverage that it does, if you have problematic skin like acne, I would recommend getting the concealer (or any concealer you like) to go with this foundation just for some extra coverage in those areas you need it. Both products are Paraben Free which is a plus and both claim to me non-comodogenic; which means it doesn't have any nasty chemicals in it that will cause spots or blackheads, which so far, proves to be true for me. I love these two together because I get a super full coverage look with the feel of minimal makeup on the skin, and even though it is full coverage it still looks like my skin, only better. Which I think is the whole idea behind the 'NAKED' thing-whatever it is, it works very well!!
So that's all for today dolls, I'll add some pictures in later on for those of you who are interested on seeing how it looks on the skin!
Stay Tuned Dolls,
Aimee
